(1) Capping theory: For most canned food products, a certain degree of vacuum is required inside the bottle. The claw type opening cap is matched with the claw mouth bottle, and the contact surface between the rubber pad and the bottle mouth forms a sealing surface. The screw thread between the cap claw and the bottle mouth serves as a sealing guide and prevents cap jumping and repeated sealing by consumers during the sterilization process. The sealing effect of the finished canned food is mainly ensured by sufficient vacuum inside the bottle, rather than by the screw thread between the cap claw and the bottle mouth. The vacuum degree is equal to the external air pressure minus the actual air pressure inside the bottle.

(2) Claw type detachable lid is often referred to as easy to open lid. A qualified detachable lid needs to be easy to seal and open, solving the problem of difficult opening of canned food.

(3) When sealing, it is necessary to ensure sufficient vacuum inside the bottle as much as possible. A good matching of the bottle and the size of the vacuum should be determined after sealing. Any vacuum formed by leakage in the bottle due to high internal pressure during sterilization should not be advocated.

The formation of vacuum:

After sealing, a closed space is formed inside the bottle. Under this condition, the cooling volume of the contents decreases, the steam in the top gap condenses into water, and the cooling pressure of the hot air in the top gap decreases, forming the final vacuum degree inside the bottle.

The method of obtaining vacuum:

According to the mechanism of vacuum formation, different countermeasures can be taken to improve the vacuum inside the bottle: 1) maintain an appropriate top gap, use hot steam to replace air, commonly use steam jet capping machines or steam exhaust tunnels with manual instant capping to achieve 2) maintain an appropriate top gap, use mechanical vacuuming to reduce the air in the top gap, and obtain vacuum. 3) Increasing and ensuring the filling temperature is also a method to improve the vacuum degree

(4) The standard claw style unscrewed cap should be matched with the GPI (or FD) standard bottle mouth. For glass bottles with a stop, the claw should be sealed at the stop position of the bottle mouth. For glass bottles without a stop, the claw usually enters the thread of the bottle mouth 1/3-1/2 to achieve a more ideal fit, as shown in the following figure:

(5) The safety range for sealing must be positive. If the safety range is 0 or negative, it indicates excessive sealing

(6) To achieve a good, safe, hygienic, and stable sealing effect, machine sealing should be preferred. Manual sealing should be considered only when machine sealing is not available. Manual sealing must pay attention to controlling the sealing torque to avoid excessive sealing affecting the sealing effect. Commonly used capping machines are generally divided into steam jet linear capping machines with vacuum pumping effect, mechanical vacuum rotary capping machines, and linear or rotary capping machines without vacuum pumping effect.
